“Members of the Elma Town Board got an earful on the proposed Brookside Patio Homes project during a public hearing at the July 15 meeting.
The 54 units would be built on about 50 acres of land behind the Pondbrook Homes on the former Camp Centerland site. Developer Bryan Young of Young Development purchased the property in 2012 for $1.3 million.
The hearing, which was standing room-only, was preceded by a presentation from Sean Hopkins, an attorney for Hopkins, Sorgi & Romanowski, PLLC, which represents Young Development.
Hopkins noted that as the board requested, the developer has lowered the density of the project, increasing the size of the site to nearly 50 acres, with 74 percent to be preserved as green space.
‘It’s important to note that this project has been reviewed thoroughly by your Planning Board,’ said Hopkins, who added that Young heeded all recommendations of the Planning Board.”
