“CONCORD—Residents voiced their displeasure with a proposed rezoning and special use permit for Gernatt Gravel at a public hearing June 14 at the Concord Town Board meeting. The company is looking to mine 17.7 acres of the property at 9080 Middle Road, which they recently purchased.
Gernatt asked for a special use permit for the space, as well as changing the zoning from residential agriculture to mining residential. It’s proposed they would use the former Mayer Road as an entryway and create another pond for mining adjacent to Gernatt’s existing operation.
‘I can hear the trucks all day … I can hear every bucket in the truck,’ said Brian Hebdon, who has lived on Middle Road for 20 years. ‘I don’t see the purpose in another 17 acres. I would like to see it stay farm land.'”
